United Methodist Youth

Middle School students (6th -8th grades) meet weekly on Sunday evenings at 5 pm. in the Youth Room.  Both Middle School and High School have a snack and community time at 5:45 pm, and the High School students (9th-12th grades) meets for youth group at 6:15 pm.
The weekly meetings provide spiritual growth opportunities for adolescents which include both study and service opportunities. The format and curriculum incorporates aspects of the Wesleyan Quadrilateral (Scripture, Reason, Experience, Tradition). Snacks are provided. If you have questions regarding United Methodist Youth please contact our Youth Director, Briana Tobey.

Mission and Service Projects

We are very focused on the personal spiritual growth that comes from serving others and the joy shared by the youth and the people the youth are working with or for. We love to see what can be achieved when a group comes together who really want to make a difference. We tackle small projects like assembling kits for Haiti disaster relief and big projects like a trip to Galveston where we scraped, scrubbed, replaced boards, and painted the outside of a church.

Sunday School Classes

Weekly classes are offered for Junior High and High School, in addition to weekly youth activities on Sunday evenings. Sunday school classes are at 10:05am on Sunday mornings. Junior High encompasses grades 6-8, and High School focuses on grades 9-12. All classes focus on Bible teaching and encourage discussion and skill building through group participation.

Family Activites

The youth participates in several family activities throughout the year including events in conjunction with the Children's Department.  In the fall, we usually enjoy a hayride and cookout, along with Trunk or Treat.

The YC meets monthly for the purpose of planning the United Methodist Youth program. The Youth Council discusses in depth all elements of the program including how responsibilities are assigned and continuous evaluation of the direction and outcome of the overall program in relation to the goals. This process develops leadership opportunities and responsibilities for those involved. The youth council members are nominated and selected by their peers.
