Ways to Connect

Sunday Morning Coffee Bar

Each Sunday Morning, we have fresh coffee and snacks as we enjoy our time of coming together as a church family to prepare for Sunday School and Worship.

Sunday School for All Ages

Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:05 am when we build friendships and learn more about God's word.  Classes are provided for all ages of adults, youth, and children.  Nursery is provided for children under 3.  For more information, Adult Christian Education Classes are briefly described at the bottom of the page.

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women are very active in our congregation. We have three active Circles, Martha/Esther Group, Katherine Liu, and Sarah Group. These circles incorporate adult women of all ages and provide an opportunity to build friendships that last a lifetime, while supporting projects that benefit women and children across the world.

Sarah Group

is the youngest group of United Methodist Women who meet monthly to have dinner, devotion and fellowship. Sarah Group is active in community service projects including raising money and providing backpacks for local children through Love, INC. Sarah Group plans lots of events throughout the year to promote friendships along with service. Sarah Group also participates with other circles of UMW to help with funeral dinners on a rotating basis. Childcare is always provided for all Sarah Group functions.

United Methodist Men

Men meet on Wednesday mornings in the Fellowship Hall at 6:45 am for Bible study and prayer. The study is directed by the Cokesbury Quarterly. "This is considered a very casual Bible study, with plenty of coffee", as noted by Kent Burris. Come join us!

Fossil Fellowship

The Fossil Fellowship group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 6:30pm to 9:00 pm in the parlor. Despite the name, they really aren't prehistoric - yet! It is a time for mature adults to play cards, dominos, have snacks and enjoy stress free socialization and fellowship.

FLOW - Food and Learning on Wednesdays

In the spring and in the fall you are invited to Go with the FLOW. A four to six week series of food and learning opportunities which offer classes ranging from dancing and calligraphy to church founders and evangelism. The curriculum changes each season depending on the availability of teachers and interest in learning. It begins at 5:30 pm with a dinner as a group followed by small group fellowship/learning sessions at 6:30 p.m. New ideas are welcomed! Donna Gaskins coordinates this ministry. For more information contact her at dmgaskins@suddenlink.net

Christian Education Classes Offered

All classes listed below meet at 10:05 am on Sunday mornings, unless otherwise noted.

New Disciples Class

This class, made up of all ages of adults, meets in the Believers class room on the south hall. The class uses books or studies and selects a new book/curriculum ($10-$15) whenever a study is completed. Currently they are studying Serving from the Heart: Finding Your Gifts and Talents for Service by Carol Cartmill and Yvonne Gentile. Those new to the group will find a warm and unintimidating class who enjoys "apply it to life" Bible study and discussion. Led by Kent Burris.

Semper Fidelis Class

This class meets in the parlor and follows the Adult Bible Studies Quarterly which is provided by the Church. No additional materials are required by class members. Most members bring their own Bible but verses are included in the quarterlies so a Bible is not required. Visitors are always welcome and made a part of our family group. Each class begins with sharing joys and concerns as well as singing a hymn. Group participation is encouraged.
This class has three teachers. Monty Waldron teaches the 1st & 2nd Sundays, Walter Webb teaches the 3rd & 4th Sundays, and Stewart Arthurs teaches the 5th Sunday. This provides a variety of teaching methods to class members.

We generally have one or two social functions throughout the year that includes games and a meal generally at one of the class members* home.

Wesley Class meets at 9:30 am

This class meets in the Clyde Bowen room. The focus of study is God's word. The class uses the Adult Bible Studies Quarterly Sunday School materials provided by the church.

Inter-Generational Class

This class has adults ranging in age from 18-80+. They meet in the Intergenerational Classroom on the south side of the church. Look for the class with pews arranged in a square, an aged rug on the floor, a variety of crosses on the wall, music and the smell of fresh coffee.

The I-G class focuses on Bible study with an emphasis on "who, what, when and where." Books are read aloud and dealt with as a whole. Theology and historically important Christian leaders through the ages are also studied in depth, with special note of their historical context.

Class participants are encouraged to bring all versions of the Bible. If there is a topical study, the teacher provides the leadership with supplemental materials brought by all who are interested. Those new to this class may be surprised by the free-flowing and spirited discussions that occur. These discussions are the focal point of the class, encouraged by the leader and spring from the material. This class is made up of fun, loving, serious Christians who are working hard to learn more about their Christianity and how they might better put Christ in their lives and carry his Spirit into their new week. For more information contact Tyson Branyan.
