Volunteer at Love INC

 Love, Inc. is a local clearinghouse for churches and other organizations throughout the community working to connect those in need with assistance.  They have multiple ongoing needs, and can be reached at  918-225-1125 or 918-225-1137.  Contact them if you are willing to help or donate in any way.

Peace, Bread & Joy (PB&J)

Peace, Bread & Joy, or PB&J for short, is a hot meal served the third Saturday of the month to those in the community that could use a meal, a night out, and fellowship.  We provide nourishment for body, mind and spirit.  PB&J is provided at the First United Methodist Church at 9th & Little.  Join us to welcome and greet, visit, serve, and be blessed.  Contact the church office at 225-LOVE for more information.

Backpack Program

UMW Sarah Group is actively involved in providing backpacks for families who qualify through Love, INC.  If you are interested in working on the backpack project contact the church office and we would will put you in contact with someone.  This ministry has grown and we need all the help we can get!

      Ways to Serve In the church

      Potluck Team

      Monthly potluck fellowship dinners are planned to be served on the first Sunday of the month immediately after the 11:10am worship service. They usually begin at 12:15pm. The Potluck Team sets out the food brought by the membership and friends and cleans up the fellowship hall and the kitchen after the event. For information contact the church office at 225-LOVE.

      Coffee Bar Team

      Volunteers are needed each week to make coffee, bring snacks, and arrange the coffee bar area.  If you are interested in helping with the coffee bar, contact the church office and someone would be more than happy to work with you to show you what needs to be done.

      FLOW - Food and Learning on Wednesday

      Teams needed to cook and serve dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays during the FLOW season. Volunteers pitch in, making the serving just as fun as the consuming.

      The Action Team

      Every other Thursday morning a team meets to prepare the newsletter for mailing. For more information contact Tracie Rose at 225-LOVE.

      On Sunday mornings

      We would love for you to greet people as they enter the doors, assist them in locating class rooms, restrooms and other areas, pass out bulletins, and hand out visitor's gifts. If you are friendly and would like to find a place to serve, this may be for you. Contact the church office for more information.

      You can also participate in the worship service by being a liturgist (making the announcements, and reading the opening prayer and calls to worship), an usher, and other opportunities in the worship service.


      Ways to Serve In the World

      Our youth and adult mission teams provide regular opportunities to serve on Mission Trips locally and throughout the world.  If you are interested in serving on a mission team, this is an exciting way to get involved and to make a difference.  Contact the church office at 225-LOVE for more information.

       Interested in helping with backpacks, making quilts, helping with funeral dinners, making friends, serving God by advocating the needs of women children and youth along with 800,000 other women across the world?  Get involved with United Methodist Women!  Call 225-LOVE for more information.

        

       

      Our local mission team has supported mission trips to Costa Rica, Israel, Africa, and other locations across the world.  Interested in joining a mission team?  Contact the church office at 225-LOVE for more information.

       

       

       

      Our local mission team also volunteers for disaster relief efforts by working nationally with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) or locally with authorities for local disasters including fire or tornados.  Interested in being on an emergency disaster relief team?  Contact the church office at 225-LOVE for more information.
